Preparing for Baby: Nesting, Cloth Diapering, and Homemade Wipe Solutions

Hey friends! We are officially in the home stretch – and oh, can I feel it. My body has started shifting, nesting instincts are in full swing, and there’s a quiet hum in the air that tells me this little soul might just make his appearance a bit earlier than expected. The final countdown has begun, and instead of fear or panic this time, there’s a calm sense of readiness and joy.

Our whole family feels it. My son is beyond excited to meet his baby brother, my husband can’t wait to welcome another little boy into the fold, and my heart… my heart is already overflowing. Love has this incredible way of expanding, making space for more, even when you think it can’t possibly stretch any further.

But with that love comes preparation. There are still little things to gather, organize, and make before we welcome this sweet boy earthside. This time around, one of my biggest changes is choosing to cloth diaper and use reusable wipes – a path I wanted to take with my first but didn’t feel ready for at the time. This second journey feels different. I want to step closer to my roots, care for my family more organically, and create something sustainable and intentional for our home.

🧺 Our Cloth Diapering Journey

After plenty of research, I decided to go with Green Mountain Diapers – a company beloved by many cloth diapering families for their quality and care. Their website is full of thoughtful information and tutorials, which makes the process far less intimidating.

Here’s what I’ve prepared so far:

Green Mountain carries most of what you need for a cloth diapering journey, but they don’t offer a wipe solution. Many families simply use water or other store-bought options, but I wanted to create something of my own – homemade, natural, and infused with love and intention.

Every step of this preparation has felt like an act of love. These solutions, these diapers, these quiet moments of nesting – they’re not just practical tasks. They’re part of building a soft, safe landing for our new little one.

We’re counting down the days now, holding space for the shift that’s about to come. It feels near, yet far. But knowing we’re getting ready with care, with thoughtfulness, and with heart… that’s the magic of this season.
