We’ve officially shifted seasons – the wheel has turned, carrying us from long summer days into golden autumn sunsets and the quiet embrace of the darker half of the year.
But this darkness isn’t something to fear. It’s a gentle return inward, to the heart of home, to the kitchen – the place where warmth is made and shared, where the rhythm of our days finds its center.
So to welcome this shift, I wanted to bake something that felt like an ode to autumn itself: a bread full of comfort, abundance, and a touch of seasonal sweetness. And truthfully? I also wanted to use up a few more apples from our harvest.
The result was this Eggnog Banana Apple Bread – a cozy loaf that tastes like joy, warmth, and love all baked together.

Ingredients:
- 2–3 ripe bananas (mashed)
- ½ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup melted butter or oil
- ½ cup eggnog (or milk/buttermilk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1–2 medium apples (peeled and chopped)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a bowl, mix the wet ingredients (bananas, sugar, butter/oil, eggnog, vanilla).
3. Stir in the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, salt) until just combined.
4. Fold in the chopped apples.
5. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
This bread came out beautifully – soft and moist with a hint of sweetness, perfect alongside a cup of tea or coffee on a crisp autumn day. For me, it was more than a loaf; it was a way to welcome this new season with warmth, love, and joy.
How do you like to honor this shift into autumn? 🍂
As the seasons shift, may you always find comfort in what you create with your hands and heart.
