Nurturing Knowledge: My Path to Aromatherapy Certification

In August, just days before welcoming my youngest son, I made a decision that felt both spontaneous and deeply necessary – I signed up for an aromatherapy course. I wanted something that nourished my mind, but also something that would support our family’s wellness in a more intentional way.

What I didn’t expect was how transformative the experience would be.

This class wasn’t just about learning which oils smell pleasant or what blends feel comforting. It pushed me to truly understand the plants behind the bottles – their histories, their properties, their energetics, and the ways they interact with the body on a holistic level. I realized how often I had used essential oils incorrectly in the past, without fully comprehending their power or purpose. There’s such a difference between buying something because it feels nice… and truly knowing how to use it safely, ethically, and thoughtfully.

The program I chose through Heart of Herbs School was absolutely worth the investment. The instructor didn’t just respond – she guided. Real conversations, real feedback, real support. And the course itself went far deeper than I expected, weaving aromatherapy with foundational herbalism in a way that felt whole and nourishing.

It took me longer than I planned to complete – life doesn’t exactly pause when you’re growing a human – but I stayed committed. And I’m proud of that. Truly proud.

So what does this mean for me going forward? For now, it means I have a deeper well of knowledge to use for my family’s health and well-being. But slowly, over time, I’d love to dive even deeper into creating homemade apothecary goods – blends and remedies that support both wellness and spirit.

One step at a time… but what a beautiful step this has been.

I am honored to say that I completed the program and am now a Certified Aromatherapist with 250 hours under my belt.
A small seed planted… and who knows what may bloom from here.
